School’s out for summer! Visions of pool days, frozen popsicles and summer camps are probably dancing through your child’s head. School is now a distant memory for the next few months, but you know what shouldn’t be a distant memory? Your child’s health. Sure, thinking about visiting our Edison, NJ, pediatricians Dr. Hung Nguyen and Dr. Nimisha Shukla isn’t exactly the fun summer activity you guys had planned, but it’s important to keep up-to-date on your child’s health.
Even though no one wants to think about illnesses during the fun summer months, issues can still plague your little one. By making sure that they come in at least once a year for a routine checkup we can catch any issues early on when they are much easier to treat.
Sports and School Physicals
As you probably know, your child’s school most likely requires that they get an annual physical examination before they start the school year (or before participating in sports). Unfortunately, many families forget about scheduling their children’s visit and then stress out when it comes down to the wire and our doctors are completely booked. Instead, get your child’s physical out of the way and then you won’t have to worry about it the rest of the summer.
Your child may have sprained an ankle jumping off the monkey bars or caught a nasty flu from a neighbor’s kid. If serious or sudden symptoms arise it’s important that you have an Edison, NJ, children’s doctor in which you can turn to get the care your little one needs whenever they need it, even during the hectic summer months.
Maybe your child’s birthday is happening this summer and they want to get their ears pierced. While it might seem tempting just to take them to the local mall to get their ears done, it isn’t always as safe or as sanitary as it should be. Fortunately, for you, our pediatricians can provide a safe, comfortable and sterile environment to make your child’s birthday wishes come true.
